Nancy Sweeney is a fifth generation Helena native.

Nancy  has worked in the Lewis and Clark County Clerk of District Court’s office for 29 years. She has been the elected Clerk of District Court since January 1994.

Nancy is a past member and officer of the Helena Association of Legal Secretaries, past president of the Montana Association of Clerks of District Court and chair of the legislative committee for the Clerks of District Court.

In 2001, she received the First Judicial District’s Pro Bono Committee’s Chairperson’s award.

Nancy is currently a member of the State Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee, a member of the Supreme Court’s Commission on Technology and co-chair of the Montana Supreme Court Equal Justice Task Force.

Nancy is also a member of the Supreme Court Privacy and Access subcommittee and the Supreme Court Electronic Filing subcommittee.

Her office has developed and implemented a mandatory parenting class for all contested dissolution and parenting actions.
