DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Under general direction of the director of nursing, this position provides direct nursing care.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (The following are intended to illustrate typical duties. They are not meant to be all inclusive or restrictive.) This position provides direct nursing care to the residents of the Cooney Convalescent Home. Provides routine bedside care; takes and records temperature, pulse and respiration; keeps residents’ charts and other simple records; other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITiES: principles and practices of geriatric bedside care; Montana Code Annotated and County regulations; Lewis and Clark County policies and procedures; Cooney Convalescent Home policies and procedures; ability to maintain patient medical records according to prescribed standards and HIPAA regulations; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and citizens.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Able to perform heavy lifting—minimum of 70 pounds. Full range of motion to include twisting, turning, bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, pushing and pulling.
QUALIFICATION: High School diploma or equivalent. Some bedside nursing care experience preferred. Must possess a MT driver’s license or be eligible to obtain one. Must be certified as a nursing assistant.
