The Environmental Health Services Division is responsible for many programs that protect the public health and the environment of Lewis & Clark County. 

Current Issues

Open burning season has resumed.

You may obtain a permit by:

• calling the toll free number at 1-877-453-2876 to request a permit via the automated system,
• go online at www.burnpermit.mt.gov or
• visit the Clerk and Recorders office at the City-County building, 316 N. Park. 

Open burning permits cost $10.00

Once you receive your permit, you must call the toll free number or go online to activate the permit for a burn. Type in the permit number to be activated that day. You must activate each day that you want to burn.
