Shelterbelt Program
The Montana Conservation Seedling Nursery offers tree and shrub seedlings for use in conservation plantings. Montana Conservation Seedling Nursery seedlings are strictly for conservation practices and cannot be used for ornamental or landscape plantings.
Orders from landowners with 10 or more acres will be given priority before March 1. Landowners with less than 10 acres can place their order any time, but these orders won't be confirmed until March 1 pending seedling availability. The minimum order is 250 seedlings for new plantings. When replacing seedlings from a previous nursery order, the minimum order is a single bundle (50 deciduous, 25 evergreens).
Orders must be received by March 15 to insure delivery by state truck. In April, one delivery date by State truck is scheduled for seedlings drop off in Lewis and Clark County. A letter to landowners who have placed an order will be notified of pick up dates, times and location.
The order form, detailed description of each species, inventory and pricing can be found at Montana Conservation Seedling Nursery.
The Lewis and Clark Conservation District provides small and large acreage landowners the oppportunity to purchase seeedling trees to plant for conservation purposes. This program is not for landscaping purposes, only for conservation-type activities. If you would like more information, please email the Conservation District Office.
